What this is:
This session is an opportunity for young people to become involved in a range of different projects with a set time frame. These could include woodwork, arts and crafts, making items for 'sale' or use in the local community, cooking, outdoor activities or specific projects which are of benefit to others. This enables young people to see and understand how they are contributing to the local community and the charity, experiencing the feeling of helping others and learning about sustainability.
Why we run it:
To enable young people to develop practical skills and take part in a range of creative projects, from building wooden benches to making bird houses from scratch. This enhances team work skills, builds confidence and independence as well as inspiring creativity and improving self-esteem.
Who it’s for:
This session is aimed at young people aged 15+ (up to 25 if they have additional needs) who are wanting to take part in planned practical activities.
When and where it runs:
Due to the varied nature of our projects we run from different venues. We anticipate that projects will last from 6-8 weeks. (half termly basis)
On a Thursday 6:30 - 9:00 pm
What young people say:
"It gets me out of the house and gives me something to do when I’m bored and I get to make new friends" - G, aged 19
