What this is:
A support group for young people who are questioning their gender identity or orientation, or already identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual or other and want to meet with others from similar backgrounds to chat, make friends and share experiences. Supportive friends are also welcome to attend to enable access and participation.
Why we run it:
Young people who are questioning their gender identity or orientation, or already identifying as LGBTQIA+ can find it challenging to access the support, understanding or information that they need at home, at school or with friends. Living in a rural area can increase this further, leading to young people feeling isolated and unsupported.
This group provides a safe space for young people and their supportive friends to meet, socialise, access support, and to develop skills and confidence.
Who it’s for:
Young people aged 13 – 25 who are questioning their gender identity or orientation, or already identifying as LGBTQIA+ and their supportive friends.
